Africa Technology Summit 2016 is almost here! We can’t wait to welcome you to Lagos, Nigeria. This message contains answers to all FAQs and will make attending this year’s conference as hassle free as possible.


Transportation

We recommend using UBER’s services from the airport and during the conference. Please keep the heavy traffic in mind to ensure timely arrivals and departures.


Immigration

Most countries need to apply for a visa to enter Nigeria. We recommend that you contact your local Nigerian embassy or use the following link: https://portal.immigration.gov.ng/pages/visaguidelines to apply for your visa in a timely manner.

When going through immigrations please have your passport and applicable documentation handy.

Dress Code

Dress code for the conference is business casual. We have a planned cocktail event, with dress code cocktail attire.


Weather

December is usually the beginning of the dry harmattan season in Lagos Nigeria. Temperature is predicted to be around 31℃/88℉ during this time of year.


Currency

The currency in Nigeria is the Nigerian Naira. The current exchange rate is 1 USD for 315 Naira.


Recommended Currency Exchange Vendor

We recommend changing your currency at the airport (Travelex). Please note that international cards can be used for payments at most hotels.


Tourist Destinations

  • Visit Lekki Conservation Area: A tropical rain-forest in the outskirts of Lagos, it is a popular choice destination for tourists and anyone looking to be in touch with nature and bask in the lush vegetation that the area holds. It is located at Lekki Conservation Centre Road in Lekki Peninsula, Lagos.
  • Visit the Beaches: Lagos, being a coastal city, is home to a number of beaches like the ones in Lekki, Elegushi, Ahmadu Bello Way (Bar Beach), Eleko, La Campagne Tropicana Beach Resort etc. Take time out to visit one of these beaches and revel in the picturesque moments they offer.
  • Visit the National Museum: The museum has a notable collection of Nigerian art, including statuary, carvings, archaeological, and ethnographic exhibits. It is located at Onikan, Lagos Island.
  • Visit The Palms shopping Mall: Have a taste of the ultimate shopping experience, complete with restaurants and a state-of-the-art cinema when you visit The Palms in Lekki. The complex is home to Shoprite, The Game, Genesis Deluxe Cinemas and other amazing brands.
  • Visit the Coconut Beach, Badagry: The perfect getaway from the hustle of daily Lagos life. This is quite a drive away, and prepare to plan taking out a whole day to visit.
  • Visit The Jazz Hole: For jazz and soul music lovers. It also has the largest collection of books for book lovers.
  • Visit Nike Art Gallery and Cultural Center: Visit this gallery for out of this world depth expressed via paintings, drawings, textile works of Adire, sculptures, dancing and drumming. Nike Art Gallery is the largest Art gallery in Africa and a must for art lovers to visit.
